Seattle is an American metropolis in the northwestern state of Washington, constructed as a port town on the Atlantic Ocean. Education is an integral part of the city, with eight higher learning institutions and more than half of the population has a college degree.

Seattle is also hailed as the birthplace of many big corporations including Microsoft, Starbucks, and Amazon.

Washington DC is the federal capital of the US and sits at the beating heart of the nation’s political and cultural scene. The city is peppered with monuments many along the National Mall. The nation’s history is preserved in the city’s famous museums including the Smithsonian, the Library of Congress (the largest in the world) and the National Archives, which house the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution.

The state is also famous for its theme parks – it is the home of Disney World - and nightlife as well as its natural beauty.

There are more than 1.5 billion people living in East Asia, which is over one fifth of the world’s population. 

The region is characterised by a hot and humid climate that varies little throughout the year, except during the two annual monsoons. The region is full of natural beauty, and students can enjoy the powdery slopes of Hokkaido in Japan, climb up the iconic Mount Fuji or spend time on the sun-drenched beaches and turquoise waters of Okinawa.

Although there is no set definition of the region encompassing Eastern Europe, here it has been defined by the United Nations definition of Eastern Europe which includes Belarus, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Ukraine, Moldova, Romania, Russia Bulgaria.

Eastern Europe is a region with chequered history and since emerging from the Cold War some of its nations are among the most highly developed in the world while others are among the poorest in Europe.

Wales is part of the United Kingdom and sits to the west of England on the island of Great Britain. It is a mountainous country known for its natural beauty and rugged coastline. 

The two biggest Welsh cities are Cardiff and Swansea, both home to high ranking universities. A total of six Welsh universities rank in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2022

British Columbia, Canada’s westernmost province, is known for its high-ranking universities, beautiful terrain, adventurous activities and vibrant multicultural atmosphere.

It is one of the only provinces in Canada where the province assesses and standardises post-secondary education, with the Education Quality Assurance. This ensures quality and “allows post-secondary institutions to compete at an international level”.
