Current students are twice as likely to have looked at academic rankings during the process of selecting a university compared with those who were students 25 years ago, research from the Association of University Directors of Estates (AUDE) has found. 

A survey carried out in December 2017 collected responses from 502 current students and 500 adults who had attended university about 25 years ago to track changes in requirements over time. 

UK students are potentially missing out on more than £150 million worth of scholarships, according to research by The Scholarship Hub. 

The Scholarship Hub, a free online database of more than 3,000 scholarships and bursaries for students, surveyed 20 leading organisations that offer additional funding to UK students.

Thirty University of Sunderland students are to take part in a scheme that supports vulnerable people in police custody.

Job-hunting mobile app Debut polled 1,331 university students on their sleep habits and the things they do to try to drift off to sleep. Some 84 per cent said that dreams or nightmares about university interrupt their sleep.

The Royal Agricultural University in Cirencester has been named the safest university in England and Wales, according to the latest research by the Complete University Guide. 

The Complete University Guide compiled the list by considering and taking professional advice on which crimes would be the most relevant to students.

The London Business School has been number one for four years in a row. 

This year’s ranking includes 95 universities in total, a slight increase from the 91 ranked last year. 

The 2017 top 10 is essentially a reshuffling of the top 10 from 2016, with the first and second place positions remaining the same.

Switzerland and Spain are the most represented countries in the top 10, each with two universities present.
