More than eight in 10 students have university-related dreams or nightmares that interrupt their sleep, according to new research.

Job-hunting mobile app Debut polled 1,331 university students on their sleep habits and the things they do to try to drift off to sleep. Some 84 per cent said that dreams or nightmares about university interrupt their sleep.

The London Business School has been number one for four years in a row. 

This year’s ranking includes 95 universities in total, a slight increase from the 91 ranked last year. 

The 2017 top 10 is essentially a reshuffling of the top 10 from 2016, with the first and second place positions remaining the same.

Switzerland and Spain are the most represented countries in the top 10, each with two universities present.

Some 24 UK undergraduate students have taken part in a CEO for a day scheme, which aims to help students understand what it takes to become a CEO. 

The scheme enables students to spend a day with the CEO of a company in order to see first hand what the position involves, the skills and qualities required and what they do on a daily basis. 

Globally, 13 countries are taking part in the scheme, run by Odgers Berndtson, a UK executive recruitment firm. The initiative is now running in the UK for its second year.

The University of Oxford has the highest social media following of any university in the UK according to an analysis by student video production company Uni Shoots. 

The university has more than 3,000,000 followers across Instagram, Facebook and Youtube. The University of Cambridge came in second with just over 2,000,000 followers, followed by the London School of Economics and Politics with 522,121 followers.

Earlier this month, Dublin welcomed 150 undergraduate students from all over the world for The Undergraduate Awards 2017. 

The Undergraduate Awards, now in their ninth year, aim to celebrate undergraduate research from students across all disciplines and multiple countries. Undergraduates submit their dissertations/final-year projects to a panel of judges, and a winning student is selected from each category alongside a number of highly commended positions.

In Business of Fashion’s third annual Global Fashion School Rankings, Central Saint Martins School of Art and Design has been named the best fashion school for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. 

The rankings, collated by the fashion media company Business of Fashion, run down the best fashion schools around the world for fashion programmes at both the undergraduate and master’s levels. This year, there is also a newly established ranking of business graduate courses within fashion institutions.

To mark the launch of new research to find out why young people want to go to university, research specialist Alterline spoke to a six-year-old, a nine-year-old and a 17-year-old about their reasons for planning to enter higher education. 

The three ultimately gave quite similar answers, mostly revolving around expanding learning and increasing job prospects.
