I’m Marie Rosszell, a year-4 foreign student in the Faculty of Business Administration (FBA), specialising in brand management. I am half Japanese, half Canadian and I grew up in Tokyo, Japan. I’ll start my full-time job in sales at Google Japan in October 2016 after my graduation in June.

Even though I have a huge imagination, what I am going to write is really something unexpected.

According to a report by World Education Services released last week, almost half of prospective postgraduate Chinese students say that the reputation of a US university is the most important factor in their decision, compared with less than a quarter of prospective Indian applicants.

China, Japan and Switzerland are tied as the third most represented countries in the top 20 universities for teaching, with one university each.

The top 20 is dominated by US institutions, which take 13 spots. The UK trails behind with only four universities with top-20 teaching scores, and Australia’s institutions fail to make the cut.
