The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings assess universities against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The rankings, which started in 2019, have seen growing numbers of universities across the globe participating. Their evaluation criteria explore the research, stewardship, outreach and teaching universities are conducting to support the SDGs.

Scotland has a reputation for excellence in education, according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024. It has the monopoly on Britain’s share of ancient universities too. Four of the top five universities in Scotland were founded before 1600, with the oldest, St Andrews, dating back to 1413.
This year marks the 96th edition of the Academy Awards, better known as the Oscars, and we’ve taken a look at where the 2024 nominees went to university to prep themselves for careers in the film industry.
Although some of the talent did not attend university, choosing instead to dive straight into work, there are 82 universities, theatre schools and specialist schools from all over the world on this year’s list.
