The Master in Linguistics Program focuses in producing competent graduates from various disciplines in the fields of lexicography, language teaching, pragmatics, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, and translation in response to the demand of the global market.
The Master’s Program in Linguistics, Faculty of Humanities can be classified as a new program based on the Decree of Program Establishment No. 12611/UN3/ KR/2013 on 12 September 2013. Nevertheless, the Program was accredited by the National Accreditation Board of Indonesia No. 1128/SK/BANPT/ Akred/M/VII/2016 on 14 July 2016. It has also gained international accreditation by FIBAA Germany. In accordance with the vision and missions, the Master’s Program in Linguistics will continuously improve the learning-teaching process to produce competent intellectual graduates, personal and professional integrity that is harmonious with the development of science and technology and to compete internationally.
The Master in Linguistic Program has developed three areas of study interest including Language teaching, Translation Studies, and Cultural Linguistics. The teaching and learning process involved both mastering the theoretical concepts and problem solving skills through case study method which are delivered through 22 compulsory and elective courses over three study interests. The study load is 44 semester credit unit (SCU) which is equivalent to 70 ECTS.
Applicant must have GPA≥3.00 with linear scientific fields i.e. Language & Literature, Language & Linguistics,Language for Education, etc
Graduates of Magister in Linguistic Program are expected to be researcher, innovator, and manager in the field of works related to language and education. Some of the graduates managed to be school principle, Professional teachers, CEO in a translation agency, education manager, and so on.
