This MA explores not just 19th-century Gothic cultures but, more generally, the fears, wonders, and dark imagination of the Victorian era. Through a rich and fascinating range of historical, literary and folkloric texts, themes and approaches, you'll probe the darker side of the Victorian age.

The Master in Linguistics Program focuses in producing competent graduates from various disciplines in the fields of lexicography, language teaching, pragmatics, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, and translation in response to the demand of the global market.

The MA is designed to provide an in-depth knowledge of English learning and teaching theories as well as core principles for language teaching methods; to provide sufficient knowledge of research methodology; to develop self-reflection, creativity, professionalism, leadership skills and lifelong learning.

Have you ever wondered how many languages are spoken in the world? Are you intrigued by how children begin to acquire language, or by how we can teach machines to understand human language? If so, you should think about studying Linguistics – the scientific study of human language. Your major in Linguistics will begin in your second year, following an exploratory general first-year program called Humanities I.
 

Overview 

From Old English manuscripts to modern examples of popular culture, studying English and Cultural Studies will introduce you to a centuries-old cultural storehouse. You’ll also examine texts from a variety of national literatures, as well as explore cultural studies, one of the fastest-growing areas of intellectual inquiry in the Humanities. Your major in English and Cultural Studies will begin in your second year, following an exploratory general first-year program called Humanities I. 
 

Overview

The clearest, most observable expressions of human thought are found embedded and reflected in the processes of language. As a Cognitive Science of Language major, you’ll explore how we think and how we give expression to our thoughts in this unique blend of linguistics and cognitive psychology. Your major in the Cognitive Science of Language will begin in your second year, following an exploratory general first-year program called Humanities I.
