As a Filipino student pursuing an Erasmus Mundus master of arts in public policy, the Central European University (CEU) has provided a perfect balance of academic inquiry, career development and socialising.

I am consistently encouraged to ask about my fellow students’ life stories, as they have such different experiences to my own. And I find that this is helping me to make better decisions, both as a student and as a future policymaker.

Medical students from the University of Edinburgh believe that changes to the junior doctor contract in England and the result of the EU referendum might lead them to look for jobs outside of England. 

Students across all year groups from the 2016-17 cohort were asked to complete a questionnaire about their career plans for after graduation. The survey was answered by 236 students in total. 

Youth turnout in UK general elections has declined significantly in recent decades. More than 60 per cent of 18- to 24-year-olds voted in the 1992 election, compared with an average of about 40 per cent since 2002.

Youth turnout in the UK is among the lowest in Western Europe. For example, about double the proportion of young Swedes vote in national elections. The problem is particularly apparent among young people of low socio-economic status. Only a quarter of those who leave school with no qualifications vote, compared with three-quarters of university students.

Jikei University School of Medicine in Japan came in at number five in the Times Higher Education 2017 table showing the universities with the best student-to-staff ratio.

I joined the doctoral programme at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) in the department of biochemistry and molecular biology in 2013. I came to know about UNMC from an alumnus, Dr Mahek Sharma of the BMB department. I was interested in pursuing my doctoral degree in a medical centre, and UNMC seemed to be the perfect fit for me.

The journal is the first postgraduate journal to be published by Fincham Press and is titled . It is edited by University of Roehampton PhD researchers Denise Saul, Sinéad Moriarty and Anne Malewski.

A survey of more than 2,000 UK university students found that 15 per cent feel that managing finances is the most stressful aspect of college life.

The same proportion (15 per cent) said that taking exams was the most stressful part of being at university, while 18 per cent identified coursework as the factor that caused them the most stress.

New York, Boston and London are the world’s most expensive cities for students to rent in, according to a new report.

The report analyses the weekly rent spent by students who were studying abroad in 92 cities worldwide last year. It was carried out by Student.com, a website that allows students to book accommodation while they are studying overseas.

On average, according to the site's data, students in New York, Boston and London spent the most on rent globally, while students in Auburn (Alabama, US), Athens (Georgia, US) and Tallahassee (Florida, US) spent the least.

Exam stress affects most students in varying ways. It is important to manage this stress and find little ways of helping to eliminate the risk of burnout.
