Although you cannot be sure which of the above you'll end up with before you move in, there are other factors to take into account when choosing your university accommodation such as value, location, and sociability.

The International Baccalaureate diploma programme is better at encouraging a “global outlook” in students, while A levels give students more “in-depth” expertise, according to the findings of the University Admissions Officers Report 2017.

UK university admissions officers were invited to rate both qualifications on how they develop a range of different qualities in students. The results found that there was a considerable difference in the two study programmes.

The results of ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2017 have been released, revealing the best universities in 52 different subjects, according to the consultancy. These subjects are spread across five fields – natural sciences, engineering, life sciences, medical sciences and social sciences. In total, more than 4,000 universities across the world were ranked.

Undergraduate students from the Arts University Bournemouth picked up three awards at the Royal Television Society's Student Television Awards 2017. 

Bleach, created by Jesse Lewis-Reece, Ike Newman and Ania Polewiak, took the Judge's Award and the Undergraduate Drama Award. Jacob Gerrard took home the Undergraduate Craft Skills - Camerawork prize for his role in the same project.

Young economists are "missing the human side of economic activity" and should get their "nose out of data", according to 2006 Nobel laureate Edmund S. Phelps. 

This is just one piece of advice included in a series of videos featuring eight Nobel prizewinners in economic sciences aimed at helping students and young economists.

High-quality teaching and the availability of scholarships were two of the most important factors that students looked at when choosing a university, according to this year’s International Student Survey.

Carried out by educational consultants Hobsons, it questioned 62,366 students from 65 universities around the world. Of these, 27,955 students were considering studying in the UK.

Medical students from the University of Edinburgh believe that changes to the junior doctor contract in England and the result of the EU referendum might lead them to look for jobs outside of England. 

Students across all year groups from the 2016-17 cohort were asked to complete a questionnaire about their career plans for after graduation. The survey was answered by 236 students in total.
