Google has now opened up applications for its 2022 scholarships for international students.

A variety of different scholarships are available for different student groups and in a selection of countries and regions around the world.

Most students will be required to submit an online application and to supply a range of supporting materials.

International students would be more likely to choose a US university if it mandated vaccine passports

Prospective international students considering studying in the US would be more likely to apply to a university if it mandated Covid-19 passports to attend, research by THE Student has found. 

In a survey of 440 prospective international students conducted by the THE consultancy team, 44 per cent of respondents stated that they would be much more likely to attend and 15 per cent said they would be somewhat more likely to attend a university if it mandated Covid-19 passports.

Small number of international students to be allowed into Australia this year

The Australian state of New South Wales has announced that a group of international students will be allowed to enter the state by the end of this year.

On arrival, students will be required to quarantine for two weeks in a purpose-built facility in Sydney. It is estimated that approximately 500 students will arrive by the end of 2021. 

However, only students who have been fully vaccinated with vaccines that have been approved by Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) will be allowed to participate in the programme.

Scholarship of the month: Chevening Scholarship

Applications for Chevening Scholarships are now open for students from a range of countries looking to study in the UK. 

The Chevening Scholarships make up the UK government’s global scholarship programme. They are open to students from 160 countries, including China, India, Hong Kong, Japan, Kenya and Malaysia. The number of scholarships available varies from country to country. 

The scholarships offer full financial support for students looking to study for a master’s degree at any UK university. 

National Student Survey 2021: overall satisfaction results show varied impact of Covid-19

The results of the UK’s National Student Survey 2021 are in, offering insight into how Covid-19 has affected the university study experience.

About 330,000 students from hundreds of universities, colleges and other providers across the UK completed the 2021 National Student Survey. This is up from the 310,000 students who answered the survey in 2020.

Survey questions covered all areas of academic life, including the quality of teaching, feedback on work, and learning resources.

Scholarship of the month - IELTS Prize

The IELTs Prize is an annual prize that supports IELTs test-takers with £3,000 towards their university tuition fees. Applications are now open for students who will be starting an undergraduate or a postgraduate course by September 2022.

The prize is eligible for students who are applying to institutions where the IELTS is an admissions requirement.
