The Master of TESOL program at Ho Chi Minh City Open University is designed to enhance development or retrain teachers who teach English as a foreign language or a second language.
Course details
The program of study in TESOL is designed to provide graduates with a strong grounding in both theory and practice of English language teaching to develop critical understanding of English and pedagogical skills. It has two dimensions: Master by Research (research-oriented) and Master by Course Work (practice-oriented).
Entry requirements
Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in TESOL, or bachelor’s degree in the fields related English, or bachelor’s degree from foreign universities: English/ American/ Australian studies, Applied linguistics, English literature, British/ English/ American literature, Education (majoring in linguistic education). Two-year working experience in business field is required for applicants whose bachelor’s degree in the other fields.
Career outcomes
We expect the graduates of Master of TESOL to work as instructors, researchers, managers, consultants and organizers of the English training program at universities, colleges, vocation schools, high schools and foreign language centers, or study further with PhD programs. Graduates can also start up their own foreign language centers, offer tutoring classes, or look for teaching job opportunities abroad.
