Overview

The Master of Chemistry Study Program aims to produce Masters with religious morals and the ability to deepen or expand the science of chemistry and applied chemistry by developing accurate models/methods/theory development that are tested and innovative. Students are also expected to do research published scientifically in national and international journals and solve science and technology problems related to structure and chemical properties at the micro and macromolecular levels. Many international students from Thailand, Nigeria, Yaman, and Myanmar are enrolled in the Chemistry Master Program.

Various research groups strengthen our academic atmospheres, i.e. Proteomics, Membrane Science & Technology, Exploration and Synthesis of Bioactive Compounds, Biofilm Polymicrobial Biofilm & Antibiotic Resistance, Separation Science & Technology Towards Green Chemistry, Supra Modification and Nano-Engineering, Chemo- & Bio-Sensor, Organic Chemistry of Natural Ingredients, Environmental Technology, Biochemical Engineering, Indonesian Medicinal Plant Biotechnology, Inorganic Materials, Environmental Technology, and Development Method of Analysis.

Course details

Our program offers areas of expertise of Biochemistry, Organic chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Physical chemistry, and Inorganic chemistry. Our graduates are groomed for various career paths, including careers in the chemical industry, researcher, experties, academia, and others.

Mastery of theoretical concepts and more in-depth skills in each interest are given through more than 30 compulsory and elective courses over these study interests.

The study load is 38-44 credits unit. Our program has 26 credits of the compulsory study program, six up to 9 credits of mandatory courses field of interest, and up to 40 credits of elective courses.

Our vision is to become a study program that excels at national and international levels in bioscience, synthesis, and chemical analysis according to the principles of sustainable technology through fundamental and applied science education and research for the welfare of society based on religious morals. Therefore, our program focuses on the development of education in computing, technology, nanomaterials, bioengineering, biosynthesis, and strengthening inorganic materials for empowering and improving the quality of life.

Entry requirements

Applicant should have IPK or GPA ≥ 2.75 with linear scientific fields (chemistry) and relevant scientific fields i.e., Chemistry Education, Pharmacy, Biology, or Chemical Engineering.

Applicant should also propose a pre-proposal plan that includes title, introduction (background, problem formulation, research objectives and benefits), literature review, hypothesis, research materials and methods, bibliography, research budget).

Career outcomes

Graduates of the Master of Chemistry study program have the profiles of Academics, Researchers, and Experts.

Academics who can deepen or expand the science of chemistry or applied chemistry by producing models/ methods/ theory development that are accurate, tested, innovative, and can be published in nationally or internationally accredited scientific journals.

Researchers who can contribute to planning a research roadmap in the field of chemistry through an inter- or multi-disciplinary approach.

Thus, experts are capable of solving complex chemical problems through an inter- or multi-disciplinary approach.
