2. China Medical University (CMU)
Founded in 1958 and located in Taichung, a city in central Taiwan, China Medical University (CMU) was the very first non-profit academic institution offering degree programmes in Chinese medicine and pharmacology in Taiwan.
The university's healthcare system, which owns four international-accredited hospitals and 11 subsidiaries with a total of over 5,000 beds, is the second largest healthcare system in the entire nation of Taiwan.
It consists of eight colleges, which together offer educational, research, and practical programmes in western medicine, Chinese medicine, dentistry, pharmacology, healthcare, biopharmaceutical and food sciences, public health, and humanities and sciences. Interdisciplinary courses are also available for students that wish to integrate and subsequently broaden their learning experiences.
1. National Taiwan University (NTU)
Set up in 1928, the National Taiwan University (NTU) is one of the most prestigious institutions on the island, with its main campus situated in Taiwan’s capital city, Taipei.
Outstanding alumni include the Nobel laureate in chemistry Yuan T. Lee, computer scientist Andrew Yao and several major regional political figures, including Taiwan’s president, Tsai Ing-wen.
The university’s wide-ranging programmes cover liberal arts, science, social sciences, medicine, engineering, agriculture, management, public health, law, computer science and education. Many of these courses are available to study in English, although Chinese languages are widely spoken on campus.
