Overview

From films to Fringe theatre, from political rallies to smartphone videos, we relate to the world by performing and by observing others’ performances. As a Theatre and Film Studies major, you’ll study performance in a range of media, cultures and historical periods, and engage with the process of conception, design, production and reception of performance. Your Theatre and Film Studies major will begin in your second year, following an exploratory general first-year program called Humanities I.

Philosophy is used to clarify and interpret important concepts such as truth, God, mortality, beauty, knowledge, and reality. These concepts play an important role in our self-understanding and our interpretation of the world. As a Philosophy major, you’ll learn about the kind of questions that philosophers ask, and about the many different areas that interest them. Your major in Philosophy will begin in your second year, following an exploratory general first-year program called Humanities I.

Students both study and create multimedia works that use audio, video, animation, and text in an informative and artistically interesting fashion. Overview

McMaster’s Justice, Political Philosophy and Law program fosters a sophisticated understanding of the law and legal institutions, and of the political and moral theories that address the value and justice of these institutions. As a JPPL major, you’ll study a wide range of topics including law, policy, global politics, moral theory, feminist jurisprudence, human rights, and globalization. Your major in JPPL will begin in your second year following a successful application to the program.
