Navjotpal (Nav) Kaur is a PhD candidate in sociology at Memorial University of Newfoundland in Canada. Her research interests include sociology of gender, men and masculinity, international migration, caste, and deviance.
In her doctoral research, Nav explores the transnational experiences of young Punjabi men who migrate to Canada as international students. She examines how Punjabi (hegemonic) masculinities are influenced by transnational aspirations, the process of migration, and eventually transnationalism. She also studies the spatio-temporal strategies young Punjabi men utilise in their masculine performativities and the overarching role caste-visibility plays to that end.
