Starting university can be exciting and overwhelming. There is so much to manage, from keeping up with lectures and deadlines to making new friends and finding your way around. It is easy to feel a little lost. That is why Happy Student was created, by international student Aram Tufan, to help make the university journey as smooth and stress-free as possible.
The Happy Student app is packed with practical tools and support for key areas of university life. Whether you need help with finances, health, accommodation or simply want some advice on what to do next, the app can provide that support.
Features of the Happy Student app
• Finance and budgeting support: Happy Student can provide budgeting tips and tricks to manage finances and find deals.
• Health and well-being: Registering with a GP, finding mental health support, and maintaining overall well-being are all easy to manage with the app. It also explains the NHS and other services for international students who are new to the UK health system.
• Accommodation: The app guides students through finding accommodation and setting up bills.
• Visa help: The visa support features will help students stay on top of important deadlines and paperwork.
• Counselling and support: The app connects students with valuable resources for mental health support, legal advice and more.
• Transport and travel tips: There are resources and advice on how to use public transport in the UK.
This year Happy Student 2.0 was launched, which includes a range of new features including:
• Actions: A smart checklist with reminders to keep students on top of essential tasks – from setting up utilities and managing budgets to accessing healthcare and educational tasks.
• Happy Student AI: A personalised assistant offering quick, hassle-free guidance whenever students need help.
• Student discounts: Students can access popular brands for discounted prices.
Tailored support for your university
In addition to general advice and resources, Happy Student also offers personalised support. If your university is one of the partner institutions, there will be a dedicated section within the app. This will include university-specific advice, events and resources, ensuring that students have all the information needed to thrive on campus.
“It helped me to settle into the big city. It has loads of useful links for the GP registration, and transportation and more,” said Lonnie, a second-year student at the University of Westminster.
Students can also reach out to the team over email with any questions or concerns.
Happy Student is working closely with student unions across the UK, including UCL, BCUSU and many others.
And the journey does not end at graduation. The transition into post-university life can be just as daunting as starting university. The app is designed to continue supporting students beyond their studies in a range of areas including finance, healthcare or housing.
Students can download Happy Student for free from all app stores.
