Course details

Computer Science and Engineering offers three study options.
 
Applied Computing focuses on the next generation of interactive systems that place humans at the center of technological development. 

Students are provided with group projects to develop a variety of systems ranging from interactive online services to games and mobile applications.

Artificial Intelligence focuses in machine learning, machine vision, and data mining. Students get a solid theoretical understanding and practical skills on processing and analyzing digital data and using modern AI techniques.

Computer Engineering focuses on hardware and software aspects with an emphasis on embedded systems. Students learn signal processing and take projects on modern signal processors and embedded computers. The students acquire a solid basis to work with Internet of Things applications.

Artificial intelligence solutions, among others emerging edge computing and edge AI technologies, are covered in all study options.
 

Entry requirements

Students applying for the programme must possess an applicable bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or relevant fields such as physics or applied mathematics.

The applicant also needs to meet the minimum requirements for English language skills of the University of Oulu.
