Aerospace Engineering

The School of Aeronautics  was founded in 2003, but its history can be traced backed to the year of 1937. In 1937, the aeronautical engineering departments from Jiaotong university, Nanjing university, and Zhejiang university were merged together and became the Eastern China Aeronautics institute, which was later merged to NPU. There are four departments in the School of Aeronautics, including the department of civil aviation engineering, the department of aircraft design engineering, the department of integrated technology and control engineering, and the department of aeronautical structure engineering.

The School of Astronautics, as one of the pioneers of the astronautic technology in China, was founded as Department of Aerospace Engineering in 1958, and reformed to the School of Aerospace Engineering in 1988. On July of 2003, the school was officially named as School of Astronautics. The School of Astronautics plays a critical important role in NPU and forms the heart of NPU together with the School of Aeronautics and School of Marine Technology.

Overview

Aerospace Engineering has two programs in undergraduate level :

Program 1 provided by The School of Aeronautics underlines an interaction of relevant aircraft knowledge and systematic engineering, and intensifies a consciousness of systematic engineering integration, with solid mathematical knowledge as the basis and broad academic knowledge of systematic engineering and aircraft design as the mainbody.

Program 2 provided by The School of Astronautics, relies on the first-level discipline of "Aeronautical and Astronautical Science and Technology", focusing on aircraft design, taking into account aircraft information and control, aerospace propulsion, and aerospace mechanics.

Course details

Program relies on national key disciplines (aircraft design, aerospace propulsion theory and engineering), 1 national key (cultivation) discipline (navigation guidance and control), Besides that 4 undergraduate majors (Aircraft Design Engineering, Detection Guidance and Control Technology) , Aircraft Energy Engineering, Aerospace Engineering), three of them are Shaanxi Province Famous Brand Majors and National Defense Discipline. And discipline-aeronautical and astronautical science and technology of our school is ranked as the top 2 in the country in the fourth round of subject evaluation, and the evaluation result was A +.
