China’s National College Entrance Examination (NCEE), or gao kao, is the admission test that all final-year school students in the country must take if they wish to win a place in a Chinese university.
Many international universities now accept the gao kao as part of a student’s application form. If you have taken the gao kao and are considering studying abroad, here is a list of all the universities in Canada that accept the gao kao.
It is important to check all the entry requirements with your university, because most universities will also require additional tests such as English language tests and other high school certificates.

The minimum requirement for most courses is 85 per cent pass rate, but accepted scores will vary depending on course of study.
Any students who have taken the gao kao must provide the university with a notarised copy of their results. Students must also arrange to have their results verified.
Requirements might vary across courses but a minimum provincial Tier 1 (or equivalent) university cut-off score may be required for acceptance to the University of Waterloo.
